Every lighthouse has a unique light characteristic to help sea farers navigate the oceans. But how do these lights illuminate the skies?
Using data from Trinity House Light Board, this print visualises every pattern of every light and lighthouse in England, Scotland and Wales.
Each line represents a different light where the length indicates the total duration and the dots highlight the flashes. The lines have been arranged geographically and so Shetland lies at the top, the Scilly Isles are at the bottom, left is west and right is east.
