Visualising the dominant wildflower colours across the UK for every 50km patch of land.
Using the Botanical Latin name of every flower that grows in the UK, it is largely possible to decipher the colour. And so I set about working out what colour is predominant within each town city and village in the UK (down to a 50km wide area).
Reds and pinks are unsurprisingly common colours within wildflowers but what did surprise me were the blankets of purple across the north of Scotland and the isolated patch up blue in the South East.
Each flower represents an area and the flowers are positioned geographically so you can find your own area within the print to see the colours flourishing close by.
Printed in the UK using special inks including fluorescent pink to illuminate the flowers under ultraviolet light, just as flowers fluoresce under UV light.
