National Park Mountains T-Shirt

This T-shirt is inspired by the National Parks across the UK, plotting every summit from west to east.

When the oldest national park in the UK turned 75 last week, it got me thinking about the landscape across all the parks. And so I turned to data and a map of the UK, looking at the mountains sitting within these national park areas. 

There are a lot.

And so I distilled them down to what we typically class as a mountain. Greater than a 2,000ft summit with at least a 500ft drop. And then the landscape started to come into view. From the high peaks of the Cairngorms to the lower summits of the Peak District. The inspiration behind this whole piece.

So each line that makes up this mountain, represents an individual summit. The point at which the line ends, marks the scaled height, ordered west to east. The flip in the lines travelling from top to bottom marks the highest mountain in the national parks. Essentially the largest peaks are in the centre of the country, tapering off towards the coastlines.
