Illuminating lighthouse flashlight characteristics through knitwear patterns
THIS IS A PRE-ORDER FOR THE LIGHTHOUSE SNOOD.
THE PRE-ORDER WILL END ON 18TH JANUARY WITH SNOODS BEING MADE TO ORDER AND POSTED OUT EARLY FEBRUARY.
The light bulb moment behind this piece was literally a lightbulb. Those found illuminating the skies high above the crashing waves in lighthouses across the UK.
The thing that I found most fascinating is that each pattern is unique to its place through the pattern, focal length, colour and position.
But when you look at frequent patterns regardless of these other parameters, some repeat more than others. This pattern is based on those steadfast lights that many of us will be familiar with as they illuminate the skies across the British Isles.

Details
The chequered pattern that wraps around this circular scarf displays the most frequently used light characteristics. Each grid represents one second where the full rotation of the scarf covers the sequence over 24 seconds.
Each row represents a different sequence ordered by frequency.
The scarf is intended to be folded over to provide extra warmth and so the patterns are repeated on the inside fold.
